A leisurely cycle ride down the gorgeous coastline, taking in stunning bays and seaside towns, coastal nature reserves, Roman ruins, a lunch stop at a Victorian seaside resort, post-ride pints, and culinary delights in Whitstable. 

Along the way, there will be frequent stops where Colin will share stories about the history, culture, and landscape, including little-known local secrets!

Itinerary

11am // Meet at Margate station where you will be introduced to your fellow adventurers before heading off along a traffic-free coastal path.

 

Early Afternoon // Visit an ancient Roman ruin and an imposing medieval church. Lunch (fish 'n' chips or bring a packed lunch) stop in Herne Bay, a quaint Victorian seaside resort and a walk along the pier.

 

Late Afternoon // Arrive in Whitstable, maybe try some Oysters, then to a pub for post-ride pints.

Either jump on the train with Colin back to Margate or stay in Canterbury, explore, and catch the train back home in your own time.

 

Time: Approx. 4-5hrs, 2hrs cycling time
 

Distance: 18 miles

Difficulty: Medium
Some off-road country tracks and a couple of small hills. (we can happily push bikes up if we need).


What to bring: Suitable comfy clothing, water,  funds for lunch & the train.
